Sinus Surgery Discharge Instructions

Things to expect

Oozing or light bleeding is normal for the first 1 - 2 days after surgery.
Pain is usually mild to moderate and should be controllable with the prescribed pain medication.
Difficulty breathing through your nose in the postoperative period is normal and can be helped with sinus irrigations.

Remove the nasal drip pad (if still present) when the oozing stops (usually within 24 to 48 hours, change as needed).
Perform nasal saline irrigations four times daily for the first week (heat to body temperature for increased comfort).
Call Dr. York's clinic to make post operative appointment for one week after surgery.
Antibiotics and/or steroids are sometimes prescribed postoperatively when they are needed.
It is okay to bathe the day after surgery.
No strenuous physical activity for 2 weeks.
